Policemen, Armed Robbers Engage In 15-Minute Gun Duel

Reports from River state have it that police officers attached to the state police command and about four gunmen were engaged in a gun duel after the success robbed some shop owners in Port Harcourt, the state capital, yesterday.
The gunmen, according to The Herald, escaped from a a supermarket located on Sanjana Street after stealing an unspecified amount of money and other valuables after the gun duel with the police.

Eyewitnesses reports have it that the police were gallant in engaging the armed men for over fifteen minutes, but were surprised that all their efforts seemed powerless against the die-hard robbers.
A salesgirl from whom the suspected bandits reportedly collected an unspecified amount of money recounted her story, she said: “As I was counting the money, they came in, and one of them pointed a gun at me and took the bag contain­ing the money.”
The robbers were said to have escaped through a link road as no casualty was recorded by the police officers.
